This is an article I should not be writing for a simple reason. Google itself labels GAE as "preview release"[ 2 ] and who wants to base their project on a "preview release". Having said that, Google charges for it, it has been around for a year and a half, and a number of people have reported successes using it([ 9 ], [ 12 ]) for their "mission critical" applications. Google is also known to use "preview release" and "beta"[ 13 ] labels quite liberally.
